Can I add some of my own footage.
At least 80% of the footage used in your cut must be our raw footage. Pickup shots are allowed.
Can I make more than one cut?

I have never edited a film before, can you give me some tips?
Yes, we have an editing tutorial that you can watch here.
We have also found some websites that will give you helpful advice on editing and editing software.

Why is there an option to upload my film to YouTube before I submit it on the Stray Cinema website?
We think your film will get more views by having double exposure on both YouTube and Stray Cinema.com, this may draw more people into the Stray Cinema Web site to vote and comment on film submissions.
What sound can I use in my film submission?
There are no rules as to what sound you should use in your submission.
We are lucky to have a growing list of musicians and bands that have agreed to let you use their music in your film.
Can I change my film submission details?
Yes, simply log in and go to the Watch page. Above your film there will be an edit and delete option.
When is the cut off date for film submissions?
four months from the day we have received 30 film submissions.

Yes! If you are a musician or part of a band, and would like to make your music available to our participants, then please contact us straight away.
Can I use your footage for something other than a Stray Cinema film submission?
Yes. Now that our footage has been released, we can’t control what happens to it. It is important to note that all footage has a Creative Commons licence attached to it.
Can I shoot the footage for next year?
Yes! We are currently looking for new footage for Stray Cinema 2009, and we would love to hear from you.
Why is the screening event such a big deal?

23/09/08
What happens if my film is voted one of the top five?
We will contact you and arrange for the high quality footage to be sent to you. You can then make your final full length cut of the film for our New-Zealand screening event.
If my submission is voted one of the top five films, can I make a film that is longer than two minutes for the screening?
Yes you can, though we suggest your final cut is no longer than 10 minutes.
