Here is a quick guide to entering the Stray Cinema competition:

  1. Register on our Website, if you have not already.
  2. Download our raw footage.
  3. Edit a cut of the film you wish to make from our footage using your own editing software. A tutorial and tips on editing and editing software can be found on our links page.
  4. Upload your film to Youtube
  5. Go to the Stray Cinema submit page, and fill out the required details
  6. Wait patiently to see if your film is voted one the top five by our online community!
  7. If your film is voted one of the top five by our online community then your film will be one of five shown alongside the directors edit at the Melbourne screening event.

Competition Requirements:

  • Submissions into the competition must be 2-6 minutes in length.
  • At least 80% of the footage used in your submission must be our raw footage. Your own pickup shots are allowed.
  • There is no limit to the number of films you can submit.
  • There are no limitations to the amount of special effects or sound you may add to your film submission. You are limited only by your imagination.
  • Your film title must be unique from any other Stray Cinema submission, and the director's title of "Beginning, Middle and End".
  • We reserve the right to withhold inappropriate materials from online posting.
  • All raw footage and user submissions are protected by a Creative Commons license.
