cuts.com
Dan our web developer has also just directed me to an article on Techcrunch about cuts.com. This website is similar to Jumpcut.com, providing people the tools to edit films online. What makes it different is the ease in which people can use and remix films from youtube and myspace on this website.
MOD films

Just a quick one. You may already know this - but I believe that the future of film will include a heavy fusion with game, and open up audience interaction within the process of creating the film. er, but I haven't got much further than that with my prediction...
In light of this, there is an interesting piece on Openbusiness.cc about MOD Films. This is more about the re-creation of film and media content, done in quite an interesting way.
"MOD Films is developing content and subscription services to support interactive story applications. We're a bit like an MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online Game) studio - part content, part software design but working in a largely undefined space between the film and game industry to create sustainable "Film Worlds.”

Away From the Train

Away From the Train is our latest film submission from anaesthesiaassociates. They have sampled the click sound from the heel of the lead actress's shoe in the song they have written especially for the film. They have then cued up this sound effect to play in time with the visual, which makes for an interesting, and in my opinion very good, result. What do you think? vote, vote vote :)
a blog about youtube
By michelle, 5 years ago - No Comments
youtube is the website of the moment, it’s all everyone wants to talk about. I am even going to talk about it for a bit.
First, my personal view on youtube, is that it is a reflection of a political movement that is happening all across the internet at the moment. The idea of democratizing media, and making it accessible for all or at least more people to tell their story (Stray Cinema very much embraces this idea). I believe that youtube is just an off-cut of this political movement in the film sharing space. It is other things too
Youtube will soon be sharing revenue with their users. As per an earlier blog i wrote, there are already many different websites that allow you to share a profit from the advertising revenue they make on your film. Youtube are just bringing this idea to the masses.
On the flip side of sharing advertising revenue, perhaps this will mean that the quality of content uploaded to youtube will be alot better. Yes in a way that’s great, but I think one of youtube’s strengths is it’s openness to people uploading everyday things, and allowing it’s everyday users to communicate via the powerful medium of film. Now we may see an influx of more professional films on this site, which detract from the everydayness (I’m really sorry I promise I won’t use the word ‘everyday’ again) of youtube’s typical footage, and may cut out a whole branch of their participating community?
