New month - new site updates
Since I haven't blogged here before, perhaps a little introduction is in order.
My name is Daniel and I am the Web developer for Stray Cinema, I created most of the functionality for this Web site, such as the blog you are reading now. I started communication with Michelle just over a year ago while I was studying in Wellington, New Zealand. Michelle had a vision for a project called Stray Cinema and needed someone to create a Web site for it, and this is the result!
Now on to the point: today the site has been updated. The changes are rather small and some of you might not notice them, so here is a short list of what's different:
- BB code toolbar for text editors, one place to see this is on film pages where you post a comment.
- Blog is now more organised, instead of being a single, long, 200KB page, it now displays a fixed number of entries and you can navigate through pages.
- RSS icons on the watch and blog pages, including an e-mail subscription option for the blog.
- Link to a tag cloud on the watch page.
- Rating a film is more interactive, it has mouse over effects and displays what each option means.
- Users can add biography text and upload an avatar in 'My Account'.
- User profiles display the biography and avatar along with a list of their films like the watch page.
These are just things that are visibly noticeable, there are lots of changes in the backend which improve the site in some way. Some of the backend changes will allow me to easily create a forum, so that is next on the agenda - keep an eye out for it!
Due to a change in the login system, you may find yourself no longer logged in. If this has happened to you and you can't login again because you've forgotten your password, you can use the forgot password page to create a new one.
Also, why not upload a photo/avatar for your public profile?
If you spot anything that is broken or doesn't look right, feel free to contact us.
