Stray Cinema can now independantly host film submissions

By daniel, 1 year, 12 months ago - No Comments

Today has been an important day for Stray Cinema. We have now reached a total of 41 film submissions surpassing the 30 submission target for setting a screening date. The screening event this year will take place 6 months from now in Christchurch, New Zealand, where the footage was filmed. Stay tuned for an official announcement on a confirmed date, time and venue.

Yesterday we launched a series of updates for the website. The main feature introduced is hosting of films ourselves without the need for YouTube. This gives us greater flexibility and allows the film submission process to be more streamlined.

I have been carefully monitoring all submissions with the new system and following up on some issues that arose earlier. Currently everything is working as expected and there are no known problems. If you run into problems submitting a film or any other task on the site, an error will be recorded and followed up as soon as possible.

Do not hesitate to contact us if you experience odd behaviour with the website. Chances are we don't know about the problem, and if we don't know about it we can't fix it!

Voting closed yesterday and we now have our top 5 films for the screening event in London on August 21st.

The top 5 films as voted by the online community are:

  2. subtitle by emma
  3. a message in a bottle by directorscute

The guidelines state participants are allowed to submit as many films as they like, and directorscute is one of four people to submit more than one film into the competition.

Congratulations to our top 5, and a big thank you to everyone who participated. I hope many of you can make it to the screening event next month, especially the top 5 winners!
