grab a coffee, and give me ten minutes of your time. please.
ive just found an excellent post on collaborative filmmaking. it focuses on a project called the basement tapes, which is a collaborative documentary about copyright in the digital age. mmmm, very topical...
anyway, the basement tapes is an excellent project, well worth checking out, but i think the article itself gives a nice overview of collaborative filmmaking, and why it's generating so much interest at the moment.
Save Net Radio
If you'd like to do something politically vital to our ideas and philosophies down here on the Stray Farm, I urge you to head over to Save Net Radio and sign up as an international listener. (Or, if you're in the States, call your representative).
Internet radio, video and indeed media in general are leading the way in the much-ballyhooed Web 2.0 revolution. There's a lot of hot air around this scene, but if there's an iceberg of real concrete new uses for the Web, its tip is showing in sites like Pandora and Last.fm. If these evolutions are knocked back now, right when they're growing incrementally, all the stuff we like talking about and playing with here will take a huge hit. And we won't be able to Thumbsdown when our radio tries to make us like the new Chilli Peppers single. Bad for everyone!
the tulse luper journey
By michelle, 3 years, 3 months ago - 2 comments
tulse luper is the lead character in an a multimedia project by peter greenaway, structured around 92 suitcases which supposedly belonged to luper.
while it is said this character is based on a real person, it is also suggested he may actually be fictional "created in guilt, fear and love by his schoolboy friend martino knockavelli who feels responsible for an accident that may have caused his death" (wikipedia).
now for the interesting part; to tell the story of tulse luper the project has embraced film, dvd, print and more recently an interactive game - which describes itself in the following way...
"created by developers, artists and students from around europe, the tulse luper journey explores new boundaries of online interactive media.
after registering for free, you play a researcher who is working the investigation of the 92 suitcases tulse luper has packed during his life as a prisoner. playing 92 different games and working together with other players in the game you can gather information on tulse luper, collect all the fragments of a 92 minute new feature movie and discuss your research in a global online community. will your research reveal hidden secrets and new facts or will you find things that add new questions to the growing myth of tulse luper?
