Stray Cinema - one month anniversary
Today is Stray Cinema's one month anniversary. The last two and a bit days have been very exciting, as we have had our second and third film submissions. I have been a little worried that people are having trouble with downloading or using the footage. Please let me know if this is the case, we will help you where we can. Also we should have the footage available as mpg's later on this week. This will be an alternative download to the QuickTime files already up there.
Anyone know how to rotoscope?

I am super keen to see a stray cinema film submission that has been rotoscoped. He he, admittedly this is a secret fantasy of mine, to see the footage rotoscoped...does anyone know how to do this, or know someone who does? Somebody - please - indulge me!!!
On that note, for those of you not submitting a film, but are part of our community (i.e you have registered on our site), is there any particular genres or ideas that you want to see brought to life in a stray cinema film remix? Don’t be shy, as David Lynch once said “The sky’s the limit with digital”.
We are still working on the commenting function for this blog page. Until we sort this please leave comments on our myspace – (http://myspace.com/straycinemacompetition) or you can email me info@straycinema.com.
michelle's first blog ever

The idea of a blog actually kind of scares me. I haven’t quite put my finger on exactly why yet, but I will face my fears, in the process hopefully understand why. And hope this thing gets easier as time goes on.
So sorry if I’m a little awkward and hard to understand at times. I’m no writer, but I will try and flesh out some thoughts :)
To give you an idea of the backdrop at the minute, I’m sitting in my room in windy Wellington (nz), rain splattering against my window. My flatmates have just been food shopping at pak n save and the sound of rustling of plastic bags and tins stacking are coming from the kitchen. It reminds me that I really need to do a shop cos I’m almost out of food.
But you don’t want to know about that do you?
I wish I could take credit for all of the ideas and components that make up Stray Cinema, but I can’t…just some of them. From the get go, this project has very much been a collaboration with various talented people. I see myself more as a director – of these ideas.
When I directed a film in London (this year’s footage) last year, I had no idea that this project (Stray Cinema) would be the outcome. I thought we would only make the one cut, and my interest at the time, was more in the accessibility of digital media. The idea that someone like lil old inexperienced me could go out and buy a digi cam, and tell a story using the all powerful medium of film.
I’m really looking forward to seeing what other people make of our footage. I don’t know what will happen with the future of this project, or what type of films will be made from our footage. I guess that’s what I like about it; it is an experiment, with no defined outcome, so it will be a continuous learning curve.
I will try and update this daily with what’s going on with the project. I guess it will be good for me to have this record if nothing else, and if a few people are interested in reading that’s super dooper!!! Yeah, I like the idea of this blog thing more and more.
Thanks for reading. And please leave comments, as I’m always looking for feedback, and ways we can grow the project.
See ya
Michelle :)
