Editing...Shootout?
Last week there was what can only be described as an “Editing Shootout” in Newcastle, Australia. Three editors cut a short film at a professional editing studio infront of a live audience, all in the space of an hour. The competition was about comparing three major editing platforms, to see what got the best results.
Lucky for us they used Stray footage, which means three new edits for us – About a Bike, Catch-up and Awkward. Watch, vote and comment, should these be screened at our Melbourne Screening event in September?
Thanks to Film Republic for this contribution.
Update: Cut of date extended
By michelle, 2 weeks, 1 day ago - No Comments
The screening event is usually held 6 months from the day there are 30 submissions on our website.
However due to the popularity of this years footage, we have decided to move the event back to September 2012, which means the new cut off date is end of July 2012.
We are up to 53 submissions, and they are still rolling in. Please spread the word to your friends and networks, and don't forget to comment and vote on your favourite films. Let's make this the biggest round so far!
42 edits...and counting!

Well 2012 is off to a good start, we had 5 film submissions over the Christmas and New Year period and are now up to 42 edits of Beginning, Middle & End!
We are now starting to plan the 2012 screening event in Melbourne to be held in June. Please get in touch if you are keen to get involved with this event in any way shape or form.
Pick up shots are allowed!

We had an entry last week called Decisions, which is the first film submission in this round to use pick up shots.
Stray Cinema requires that you use 80% of the source footage available for download, but the other 20% can be your own shots. The idea is similar to when a film crew go out and film "pick up shots" after the shoot is finished. This is your chance to add to what is already there.
It's exciting to see people making use of pick up shots, editing, effects and music to tell their own unique stories with this footage. Vote and comment to let us know what you think of the film submissions to date.

There was a great article published on Twitch Film yesterday about Beginning, Middle & End, the feature film that you are able to download and remix on this website.
Hoping you have a great Christmas, wherever you are in the world!
